in moonlight i'm coding

my windows are darkened
and it sets really soon
there's no way of knowing
if I'll be here still
when it's again rising
up over my sill

at nighttime i'm coding
in my darkened room
a sense of foreboding
then suddenly: boom
I look on in terror
as i wrathful spy
a horrible error
which eluded my eye

though finally i know
the trouble's root
all my workarounds now
are suddenly moot
i have spent so much time
looking where i went wrong
for me now to find out
i was right all along

so i start deleting
my helper functions
the no longer needed
logical junctions
hello world - it's working
i shout out in glee
and i curse thee, bracket
for going missing on me
